WHAT I CAN DO
I can pucker my mouth,
Make a squiggly grin,
Stand on one foot,
Wiggle my chin,
Walk on a stone wall—
See how I balance?
Have you ever seen someone
With so many talents?

TO THE CORNER!
To the corner!
To the store!
To bring some butter brickle back
To Grandpa Sneezensnore!

WHAT’S THAT SOUND?
What’s that sound—it’s all around—
Out in the darkness there?
It’s not a dog or cat or owl—
It might be a grizzly bear,
Or a man-eating lion, or Tasmanian wolf,
Or an African elephant stamping his hoof.
Whatever it is, it’s lurking about,
So I’m locking the doors to keep the thing out.

PEOPLE MY SIZE
Inside the hamper.
Under the chair.
People my size
Can hide anywhere.
|
|
GARAGE SALE
A dime for one shoe.
Three hats for a penny.
That’s one shoe too few
And two hats too many.

TICKLE BEAR
Tickle bear, tickle bear,
Tell me a riddle.
“OK. What happens
When you touch my middle?”
Giggle bear, giggle bear,
Tell me a rhyme.
“OK. It happens, then,
Time after time.”

ANIMAL HOUSE
There’s a monkey upstairs,
The closet’s got bears,
The bathroom is jumping with
rabbits and hares.
It’s time to clean house,
And sweep them all out,
Including the piggies
down under the couch.

THE WAITRESS OF OLDTOWN
The waitress of Oldtown
Was friends with a flounder.
She slept in a T-shirt
The fishy had found her.
She turned up her heels
At the trout and the snapper
And laughed until dawn
At his fins and his flapper.

THE MOOD OF THE MILK
Yesterday sweet,
Tomorrow sour.
The mood of the milk
Can change by the hour.
